Individuals who have worked in their lifetime and have paid money into Social Security, are eligible to receive benefits from the Social Security Administration based on money contributed and years worked.  To apply, or learn more, visit the Social Security Administration’s website.

KanCare is the KS State Medicaid program.  Recipients of KanCare get 100% of approved medical and dental care paid for, including prescription drugs.  To qualify, you have to meet certain income requirements.  Click the link below to visit KanCare’s website, to learn more, prequalify and apply.

Medicare is the federally funded government insurance program for retiree’s and disabled persons who receive Social Security income.  There is a monthly premium for Medicare, which is deducted from Social Security payments on a monthly basis.  However, many individuals qualify for additional help from the government based on income qualifications, which greatly reduces premiums and insurance co-pays for doctor visits, procedures and prescriptions.  To learn more about Medicare, and to prequalify and apply, click below.

LIEAP, also known as the Low Income Energy Assistance Program, is sponsored by the state of Kansas to assist low income households with energy expenses January through March.  To learn more, and apply, click the link below.

The JCHA provides housing vouchers to low income families to obtain affordable housing.  (Used to be called Section 8).
